Hotel Giles Policies

Express Check-In: Beginning at 3:00PM you may check into your room using your 4-digit room door code.  An "Early Arrival" Check-In is available for a $25.00 fee. If you need to check in between 1:00PM and 2:00PM please select the "Early Check-In" Add-On when making your reservation. If you plan on arriving between 2:00PM and 3:00PM, and your room is ready, there is no charge. Please call the office for availabilty. Our staff strives to make rooms available as soon as possible each day. Please let us know if you will be arriving after 8:00PM.

Express Check-Out: Check-out is 11:00AM. There is no need to stop by the office. Please text the word "OUT" to 830-995-3030 when you have vacated the room. If you require a later departure please select the "Late Check Out" Add-On for a fee of $25.00 when making your reservation. Late Check Out is 1:00PM. Any guests occupying a room after 11:15AM will assess this $25.00 Late Check Out fee. All billing information will be emailed to you.

Smoking: Hotel Giles is a smoke-free (inside) property. Smoking is not permitted in any of the rooms or suites. If a room has been smoked in, the guest will be charged a $500.00 cleaning fee. The smell of smoke inside a room is sufficient evidence to assess this fee. Smoking is permitted outside and ashtrays are provided. Please be considerate of others when smoking on the hotel grounds.

Housekeeping: A member of our staff will refresh your room daily. This includes straightening the bed covers, restocking the Kuerig station, fresh towels (if needed) and collecting the trash. Iron and ironing board are located in the downstairs restroom located at the end of the Historic Building with the door marked ' Toilette'. Please return once finished.

Quiet Hours - 10:00PM - 7:00AM:  We want you to enjoy your stay, but must insist you do it quietly during Quiet Hours. We are located in a neighborhood and there are other guests to consider. Quiet hours are strictly enforced. The following fees will be applied for violations of quiet hours:  First incident will be a polite reminder.  Second incident - $100 charged to the guest's credit card on file.  Third incident - $250 charged to the guest's credit card on file.  Fourth incident, or any incident occurring after midnight, may result in intervention from local law enforcement. Hotel Giles exclusively reserves the right to remove unruly guests from the property at the staff member’s discretion without prior notice. No refund will be provided to guests removed from the property for violations of this policy.  

Reservations: At the time of your booking, we request a credit card be placed on file. We do not require a deposit. The entire balance will be charged to the credit card on file one day prior to your arrival. If you booked through an online booking site other than hotelgiles.com, such as Expedia.com, Hotels.com, or Booking.com, we will contact you to provide us with a credit card to put on file prior to your arrival.

Discounts: We are proud to offer the following discounts to our qualified guests. Senior Citizen-10%, 1st Responder-10%, Educator-10%, Military/Veteran-10%, Return Guest-15%, and Local(78013)-22%. To receive a discount you must book through our website, HotelGiles.com, or over the phone at 830-995-3030. After making your reservation through our website, please call the office to request your discount. Proof of qualification will be required upon check-in. Discounts must be requested and applied before payment is processed the day before your arrival. No refunds for discounts will be issued. We cannot apply any discount to reservations made through other websites such as Expedia.com, Booking.com, Hotels.com, etc.

Keys: All doors have an electronic lock. You will receive a text on the day of your arrival which includes a 4-digit code that will allow you access to your reserved hotel room. The specific code you receive does not work on any other door at the hotel.

Minimum Stay: Hotel Giles requires a minimum stay of two nights on weekends (Friday-Saturday; Saturday-Sunday). Any non-booked rooms, for the upcoming weekend only, are released for single night stays on Wednesday after 12:00PM. 

Occupancy: All of our rooms are designed to comfortably accommodate up to two guests, including minors (16 and older). On request, you can purchase the roll away package for one additional guest for $35/night + tax for any room large enough to support it. Please call the office for availabiliy.

Parking: Free ample parking is available on High Street in front of the hotel or any side streets. Hotel Giles is not responsible for loss, theft, or damage to cars.

Pets: Because of the historic nature of Hotel Giles, we do not allow pets in the two story part of the hotel. Guests with pets must call the office to reserve a room. Pets, up to 50 pounds are allowed in Rooms 6, 7, 8 and 9 only. A $50.00 pet fee is required. Excessive barking and or unruly behavior may result in a guest being asked to leave. In an event such as this, no refund will be issued. Please use the grassy area near the back of the propertyfor pet relief and pick up after them.

Retro Bikes: Cool retro bikes are available for check out. Please see the office for details and to sign your waiver form. Must be at least 16 years old or accompanied by an adult for bike check out. NOTE: Brakes work by peddling backward.

Accessibility: Our property is historic and was built in 1880 and has lots of stairs, uneven footpaths, and no elevators. Access to all upstairs rooms requires the use of an uncovered, outside stairway.

Damage: We take great pride in our establishment. We provide a comfortable experience for each of our guests. Guests will be charged for any theft, damages, and excessive clean up to rooms and/or property beyond the usual wear and tear of a normal hotel stay. Hotel Giles is not responsible for any loss or theft from the room. Please note, coffee makers, hangers, hairdryers, bedding, towels and other items in your room are inventoried as part of the room set up. Any item(s) missing will be charged to your account. This policy also applies to any items on Hotel Giles's property. Any item(s) missing and or damaged will be charged to your credit card on file.

Special Cleaning Requirements: If a guest creates a biohazard by regurgitating, bleeding, etc during their stay, the guest must immediately report it to our staff so that a prompt, thorough cleaning with appropriate safety equipment and PPE can be conducted. An additional fee of $100.00 will be added to the guests rental rate. If the incident is concealed or not promptly reported, an additional fee of $250.00 will be added.

Group/Block Bookings: Group/Block bookings do not include the exclusive use of the Conference Room, Gazebo, Grand Salon, Deck Areas, and Courtyard or the other areas on the Property. Private Events require a site fee and must be booked separately.

Items Left Behind: Please contact the hotel if you feel you left items behind. Hotel Giles will ship your lost items to you within 7 to 10 days of your stay. Shipping cost will be charged to your credit card on file. Hotel Giles is not responsible for items left and not claimed beyond 30 days of your stay and will donate items not claimed to local charities when applicable.

Gift Certificate Redemption: Enter your gift certificate code in the designated space when making your reservation.

Fires: No fires are to be lit anywhere on the property. No campfires. No firepits. No grills. No fireworks. No exceptions. If this rule is broken there will be a $250 clean-up fee and the guest will be asked to leave immediately, with no refund.

Cancellations: If your travel plans change and you must change or cancel your reservation, please contact us at least 7 days prior to your arrival date to cancel your reservation in order to receive a refund. There is a $25.00 charge to change or cancel a reservation (per room).

In the unlikely event that you must cancel with less than 7 days' notice, shorten your stay, check out early, or do no show for your stay, please understand that we must ask you to take responsibility for your entire reservation, regardless of the circumstances. If we can re-book your room(s), a full or partial refund may be made at our discretion. Refunds of this type are made within 10 business days. Any reservations made through a third party, for example, Booking.com; Expedia; Airbnb, are non-refundable.

Multiple Room Cancellations: A 60-day cancellation notice is required on group bookings. If you cancel a group booking with more than 60 days notice, your deposit will be refunded and your contract will be null and void. Cancellations with less than 60 days notice will be charged for the entire reservation. If we can re-book the rooms, a full or partial refund may be made at our discretion.
