Inside a charming 1907 brick building in the heart of Comfort, Texas, MixHaus Gallery is a vibrant, thoughtfully curated space where art and human connection intertwine. As a contemporary art space, MixHaus is dedicated to showcasing mixed media and cross-disciplinary artists whose work is rooted in exploration, innovation, and personal story. Located at 716 High Street, it happens to sit directly across the street from Hotel Giles — our award-winning historic boutique hotel co-owned by MixHaus founder Cara Hines.
Art That Tells a Story
Inside the gallery, visitors are invited to slow down, explore freely, and engage with art that dares to ask questions and stretch boundaries. Paintings, sculpture, neon pieces, and other unexpected works line the walls, offering a glimpse into the artists’ creative process. The exhibits highlight the ideas, materials, and questions that drive each artist’s work. While most featured artists hail from Texas, MixHaus also reaches beyond state lines to include those who align with its values of innovation, collaboration, and authentic expression.
From Studio Comfort to MixHaus
Originally founded as Studio Comfort Texas in 2019, the gallery was reimagined as MixHaus Gallery by Cara. Her background in interior design and experience in both the art and business worlds lend a distinctive depth to the gallery’s mission: to be a place where freethinking, transformation, and creative dialogue come to life. Her work isn’t going unnoticed. Cara was named Comfort’s 2024 Innovator of the Year by the Chamber of Commerce, while Hotel Giles — run in partnership with her husband, mother, and friends — earned the town’s 2024 Business of the Year distinction.

The gallery isn’t just a destination for art lovers — it’s also a gathering place. Available for intimate meetings, retreats, and workshops, MixHaus offers a setting where creativity and collaboration flourish. Art classes, songwriting sessions, poetry readings, and other events flow naturally in this space, reflecting Comfort’s deep creative spirit. When paired with Hotel Giles, it becomes an ideal setting for multi-day experiences — think artist retreats, team offsites, and intimate conferences. With 15 unique rooms, a homemade hot breakfast each morning, and welcoming hospitality, our historic Hotel Giles provides a seamless and comfortable extension of the MixHaus experience.
Open Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m., MixHaus Gallery invites you to explore, connect, and be inspired.
