You're invited for a memorable retreat at Hotel Giles—an evening that includes a 5-course chef-prepared meal, paired complimentary wines, and immersive artist talk/exhibit tour with Texas sculptor Danville Chadbourne and his enchanting partner, Diana Roberts.

Hotel Giles and Studio Comfort Texas art gallery are pleased to present this special evening in collaboration with Chef Jared Campbell and paired with wines from Ursa Vineyards at Branch on High. Share a fun and engaging experience with fellow lovers of art, cuisine and lively discussion, as well as a full breakfast with bubbles the following morning.

Chadbourne’s solo exhibition will be on view throughout indoor and exterior spaces at Studio Comfort Texas and Hotel Giles from October 22nd through the end of December 2022. He is known for his mythic sculptures in wood, ceramic, and found objects. Included in the exhibition are indoor and outdoor three-dimensional works, wall-mounted and table-top pieces, as well as floor and suspended sculptures.

Chadbourne’s command of language and discourse rival his artistic abilities and are as prolific. Paired with the intelligence, wit and charm of his partner, Diana, the experience promises to be memorable.

About the Artist  |  Danville Chadbourne
Danville Chadbourne was born in Bryan, Texas in 1949. He received a BFA in 1971 from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas and an MFA in 1973 from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. After teaching studio art and art history at the college level for 17 years at various institutions, Chadbourne quit teaching 1989 to devote himself full-time to his art. He has exhibited extensively at both state and national levels, including well over 100 one-person exhibitions. His work is included in numerous private and public collections and was featured in the November 2010 issue of Sculpture Magazine, and in the February 2010 and January 2006 issues of Ceramics Monthly.

Primarily a sculptor in clay and wood, Chadbourne works in a range of materials and in both two- and three-dimensional formats. Over the years he has created a complex body of work unified by a primal iconography and artifact-like quality emerging from a very personal and consistent formal, aesthetic and philosophical sense. He has lived in San Antonio, Texas since 1979.

About the Chef  |  Jared Campbell
Jared Campbell began his cooking career in the Texas Hill Country working at several Boerne area restaurants. He relocated to Colorado, eventually landing in Steamboat Springs working for Rex's family of Restaurants. From there, he went to Basin Harbor Club in Vermont, where he polished his catering skills, assisting with several events and weddings each week, including a 900-person wedding at the edge of a hurricane. After a very fulfilling season there, he moved back to his beloved Rocky Mountains of Colorado, to Telluride. There he cooked at The Peaks Hotel and Spa, then managed the French bistro kitchen at Bon Vivant—a restaurant at 11,000 feet. He was eventually promoted to General Manager and elevated the service side of the business, honing his understanding that a dining experience should be just that, an unforgettable experience. After some time, the Texas Hill Country called him back home. Now, Chef Jared is available to provide singular dining experiences in the comfort of your own home or business, where you and your guests feel most at ease and receive the highest level of service and hospitality—experiences they will hopefully be talking about for months and years to come.
